In this 01/13/2017 workshop session, Kathleen Gradel demonstrates how to use GoogleDocs, Maps, and Wikitude to create AR experiences. Using the power of Docs as a sandbox, her first-year students curated information and map points for “hot spots” around campus. Team “geeks” then plotted points and info on a shared GoogleMap. Using the Wikitude free AR app, the map
transformed into a live app – a “tame” non-game knock-off of Pokemon Go. The project served as a culminating experience for the course, capitalizing on curating, writing, and peer editing skills, along with learning to use our phones for things beyond texting.

This session tracks through the implementation steps and shares your own future TDL (to do list) for trying it on your own.

Kathleen Gradel is the recipient of the 2016 SUNY FACT2 Award for Excellence in Instruction at State-Operated and Statutory Campuses.
