These are the steps I followed to build and scale a software (that I coded myself) to $20k MRR.

If you want to learn to code, I made an intro class on Edvanc here:

1. Research
This is probably the most important aspect of building a saas business. If you don’t understand your customer or the market, there is no way you will be able to get any customers.

2. Market
There is a solid reason that you want to market BEFORE you build the software. You want to start getting leads as soon as you validate the idea. Even if you end up never launching your software, you now have some contacts you can reach out to for ideas!

3. Build
Protoype and design the user interface first – trust me on this. It’s hard enough to figure out the full stack and which framework/coding language to use. Make it easy on yourself and start with drawing out the interface in MS paint. heh.

4. Scale
Content. Marketing…. Build an authority in your niche using a blog and other content as the crutch. If you can make your SaaS brand stand out and show you know your stuff in the market, you will get all the customers.

  1. Hi there, I came across an issue using Loan management software so I built one that was much more simpler to use and have all the various features that I believe are required. I then documented what we would need then built it using excel. I’d like to validate if this would have a market of done properly as an online software, and if so how to convert it to a proper software based system that small lenders can use.

  2. Hi Sir, I've No Coding or Programming Knowledge, and I want to Start-Up a MRR model Business. So I want to Help a Profitable SAAS Business Getting Client as Monthly Recurring Base. And I want to Earn that Monthly Recurring Commision for Each Clients from that SAAS Company. So Plz Suggest which SaaS Niches will be Best &Suitable for Complete Beginner like me to Earn a High Monthly Recurring Revenue ?
Plzz Sir, Suggest & Guide me 🙏🙏🙏🙏

  3. Great and informative video. Just to add that you can build the software yourself with no code tools like Bubble. You don't have to know how to write code to be a SaaS founder. Shoot me a DM on twitter @tobigbemisola if you'd like to know more.

  4. I would say the developer deserves more than 50% because it takes a lot more work to program an application than to market it in the overwhelming majority of cases.

  5. Well my idea is I have noticed international development is completely in the context state programs and interventions, with no personal connection to the deeply poor. My saas would be build on my experience and data of working in slums and used to drive deeper relationship building with the ultra poor in a more profound way. Essentially take the spiritual vision of mahatma Gandhi and integrate it with business/technology/community development best practices that uses saas to scale across organizations. There are 700,000 villages of India but over a million community organizations. A million in brazil. There are around ten million NGO's worldwide. I believe the key is focusing on ONE family/community at a time, and building deep relationships. Of course I would just be using technology and data to build on the work of people like Gandhi–and the point of the software is to bring people together in a deeper way. So I am not trying to get rich, but I think SAAS may be a good tool to bring this to a more global level. I may also want off line functionality though because I want to get these processes into rural areas, and I may want full Saas at all stages but then have a sliding scale since people making a dollar a day will not have a lot of money, and the point is to be able to help as many people as possible.

  6. Your reviews on your SaaS website are fake..I also can’t grasp how this software has ever succeeded. The site looks plain old en dead. I’m sorry but I just don’t believe it.

  7. Thanks for this video. I agree and would argue that market research is the most critical step. It saves you from having to wonder if you're wasting your time or not. The market will literally tell you what the software is worth, if it's worth anything at all, and that allows you to plan accordingly. Imagine 100 people telling you they'll each purchase a specific type of fish from you for $5 each. I'd rather know the amount of fish I need to get as well as the type of fish before I go and rent the boat, buy the rods, bait and tackle, and go fishing for hours if not days. The market justifies the action.

  8. Bro I used Atlas! I've been making about 10K a month drop shipping various products on Amazon thanks to you I had no clue who the Creator was a buddy of mine was telling me about Atlas last year and I was like this is amazing

  9. I don't think I'd feel comfortable marketing an app before I'm making it. Shouldn't I wait until I have something worked out?

  10. Love the video, but hiring a freelancer or an agency is probably the worst strategy you can do. If you're a non-technical founder, you will give at least 25% equity for a CTO. (If you're the kind of person that doesn't want to give that much equity, then you shouldn't start a tech company). Build your network to find the best person you can possibly find to start a company with.

  11. The hardest thing about building is technical skill, executing right now but stuck because no idea how to build even searching the web endlessly…

  12. Great video dude.
I started the other way around. I made my SaaS for myself then once I was happy with it I showed my community, 16,000 people signed up.

  13. I can't thank you enough
For the past few months, I've been feeling down trying to find thing to do with my life and I'm grateful I found your video because it has really helped detail out a way for me take on my next project

Thank you so much for your honesty and simplicity

  14. I'm also starting to build a Sass application. How do you think does the technology affects the sass? Do I need to use high-end tech frameworks to make it succeed or maybe use a simple frontend and backend framework? Thanks man
